We can rightfully say that the Lepenica river is a Kiseljak river, because the place where it originates and the estuary where it flows into the Fojnica river all belong to the municipality of Kiseljak.

In the village Sastavci, where the Bijela and Crna rivers meet, Lepenica is born. Lepenica is more than a river for people from Kiseljak, for millennia, with its streams, it formed the Lepenica landscape, made its fields and made them fertile.

The biodiversity of the river is highly developed. Numerous species of fish live in the Lepenica river, such as Brown trout, Grayling, Huchen, European bullhead, Common barbel, Mediterranean barbel, Spined loach, Spirlin, Common chub and Common minnow.

Many other animal species live along the river, and the River Otter should definitely be mentioned among them.

The course of the Lepenica river is 33 km long, and flows through the villages of Toplica, Zabrđe, Bukovica, Žeželovo, Gojakovac, Kuliješ, Homolj, Boljkovići, Han Ploča, Draževići, Radanovići, Brnjaci, Topole, Potrkaj, Paleška Ćuprija and Kiseljak. The altitude of Sastavak in the place of its origin is 606, and the mouth is 456m above sea level.

The river therefore flows through a height difference of 150 meters. Many streams flow into it on their way, such as Tisovački, Ugljaš, Ivički potok, Zečiji potok, Mutni potok, Rotiljski potok, etc. When it comes to rivers, only one flows into Lepenica – the Kreševčića river.

The truth is that Lepenica used to be much longer because in the past the Fojnička river flowed into
Lepenica, which in its course flowed into the Bosna river in Visoko. Subsequently, in recent history, this was changed and the Lepenica River became a tributary of the Fojnica River.
